Is our AFA course nationally recognised?
Yes. Our Apply First Aid course is  Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) approved. HLTFA301C (prev HLTFA301B)
 
 
Can I sit a refresher course if my certificate has expired?
No. Workcover guidelines state that re-accreditation of Apply First Aid and Occupational First Aid certificates must be completed PRIOR TO EXPIRY DATE.
 
 
Can I do a Fastrack course if my certificate has expired?
Yes. The Fastrack is a full Apply First Aid certificate and suitable for refreshers or full certification. For more info on Fastrack see below.
 
 
What happens if I fail my exam or assessment?
You may choose to resit your exam, or you may join another class by calling our office to see which courses are available.
 
 
When do I have to pay and how can I pay?
Our courses are to be paid 7 days prior to your course date to receive your certificate on the day of your course. We do not accept payment for your course on the day. You can pay by Visa, Mastercard, Cheque, Money order or Direct deposit.
 
 
Can I transfer to another course?
Yes. If your transfer request is made 7 or more days before the course date, one free transfer is allowed. Any subsequent transfers will incur a $25 fee per subsequent transfer. If your transfer request is made less than 7 days before the course a $25 fee will apply. Please select your course date carefully.
 
 
Can I cancel my course?
Yes. If you cancel your course 7 or more days before the course date, a refund can be provided if all course materials are returned in new condition less any delivery costs incurred. A cancellation fee may apply. If you cancel your course 7 days or less before your course date, no refund will be provided. You may wish to transfer to another course date – please see above transfer terms.
 
 
Is lunch provided?
No. We have chosen our venue locations with the need for local refreshments in mind. Most of our venues have either a café or eatery nearby.
 
 
How do I get there?
The address of the training venue will be on your course confirmation. If you require directions we suggest you look up the street directory or an on-line site such as www.whereis.com.au.
 
 
How many people will be in the course?
We try to limit the number of students in our courses in order to give adequate personal attention. Most courses have less than 20 students.
 
 
What do I need to bring to a course?
You need to bring along your first aid manual/booklet (Fastrack students). You need to bring a towel for your knees, a t-shirt for the manikin and any refreshments you may need during the day. Pen and paper may be useful.
 
 
How old do I have to be to attend a course?
The minimum age requirement for a student to attend a course is 14.
 
 
What do I get as course inclusions?
Each student will receive a first aid manual or booklet, question and answer sheet and complimentary ID card provided within your statement of attainment. Should you wish to receive a photo ID card, you must email your passport sized photo to contact@medilife.com.au at least 7 days prior to your course date. If your photo is received within 7 days to your course date a $25 + gst fee will apply. Apply First Aid Students will receive a triangular bandage, crepe bandage, face shield, certificate expiry reminder notice and the use of a manikin between 2 students.
 
 
Can I bring an interpreter to the course?
Yes. Please advise us prior to the course so that we can make suitable arrangements.
 
 
How long does a course take to complete?
The times do vary. For more information please see details contained in the course descriptions under the ‘Courses’ section of the site.
 
 
Do we have other venues than those published on the website?
No however if you have a group of students requiring training we can come to your premises.
 
 
Can I get Laerdal Mask Training?
Yes. This training is conducted in conjunction with a CPR or Apply First Aid course. The fee is $85 (CPR course and mask), $175 (Apply First Aid course and mask). Please advise us at the time of booking.
 
 
Can I claim courses through my private health fund?
Yes. Depending on your fund.
 
 
Is a course Tax deductible?
If you are completing your course for work purposes you can claim the expenses of the course in your tax return.
 
 
Do I get a receipt for my course?
Yes. All public course students will receive a tax invoice/receipt with your course confirmation if you have paid for your course.
 
 
What is Fastrack and how does it work?
Fastrack is a 1-day Apply First Aid course. Students need to pay for their course at least 7 days prior to the course date in order to receive your First Aid Manual which contains 40 multiple choice questions making up the theory component of this course. These questions must be completed prior to attending the practical training day. The study of the manual and answering of the questions will likely take around 3-4 hours and is an open book test.
 
 
Is our Apply First Aid course VETAB approved?
Yes our AFA is VETAB approved. Course code HLTFA301C (prev HLTFA301B)
 
 
Do we go on-site for training?
Yes. We can come to your premises at a time and date that suits you. Please advise 3 dates, so as we can organise for a trainer to be available on one of your chosen dates. Please contact us for further details.
 
 
Do you give discounts?
For Apply First Aid and Occupational First Aid students, a pension discount is available at 10% off the normal course rate. A student discount is available at 10% off the normal course rate. Proof by way of pension/student card must be presented at the course. Discounts are not to be used in conjunction with any other offer.
 
 
When and how will I get my certificate/statement of attainment?
You will receive your certificate/statement of attainment on the day of your course providing you paid 7 days prior to your course date. If you were a late enrolment and paid for your course within 7 days to your course, your certificate will be mailed 7-10 working days from the date of your course. If you still have not received your certificate after this time, please call our office.
 
 
How long will my statement of attainment last for?
That depends on the certificate.
• Apply First Aid statement of attainment, including Fastrack, are valid for 3 years.
• CPR statement of attainment are valid for 1 year.
• Advanced Resuscitation statement of attainment are valid for 1 year.
• Occupational First Aid statement of attainment are valid for 3 years.
• KidCare First Aid is valid for 3 years.
 
 
What happens if I need my certificate before it is posted to me?
If you require your certificate before our usual 7-10 day turnaround we can provide you with a letter confirming your attendance and passing of the course. You must notify us at the time of booking. However a $25 + gst express printing fee will be applied.
 
 
What happens if I lose my certificate?
If you lose your certificate and require another copy we can reprint your certificate and mail it to you for a reprint fee of $25.00. We do not keep copies of your certificate.
 
 
Can I get a photo ID first aider card?
Yes. You just need to email a passport sized photo to contact@medilife.com.au 7 days prior to your course date and this will be included in your certificate. If we receive your photo within 7 days or after your course date a $25 + gst administration fee will apply.
 
 
What are the pre-requisites for my course?
Pre-requisites vary according to course as follows:
• Apply First Aid – none
• Apply First Aid Reaccreditation – Current Apply First Aid (Senior First Aid) certificate that has not yet expired. (check your expiry date on your certificate)
• Occupational First Aid – none
• Occupational Reaccreditation – Current Occupational First Aid certificate
• Advanced Resuscitation – Current Apply First Aid (Senior First Aid) certificate
• Defibrillation – current Apply First Aid (Senior First Aid) certificate

With the new ARC guidelines of March 06, do I need to re-do my Apply First Aid certificate?
No. However, if you would like to upgrade your CPR component of your skills you can attend just the first half day of an AFA course or a CPR course to get the latest
information and practice and be assessed in your skills. The fee is $65
 
 
What are the new ARC changes?
The changes are too comprehensive to answer in a single paragraph however you can go to www.resus.org.au
 
 
Do you conduct first aid audits? Who would need a first aid audit performed?
Yes. All companies with employees would benefit from a first aid audit.
 
 
Do you do Customised Lectures?
Yes. We can organise lectures on Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Workplace Safety, Manual Handling plus many more. Or if you would like certain topics covered suitable to your workplace,
we are more than happy to deliver this as well. Please phone our office for more information and we can send a proposal to you.
